ABOUT
Jessica North full body.jpg

Hello! I have loved writing for most of my life. As well as these historical biographies, I have written four business guides and two lifestyle books, plus articles for the Australian Association for Environmental Education, Vogue Entertaining and Vogue Children. I also co-wrote a chapter on sustainability for the United Nations publication Tomorrow Today.

I also love Australia. For fifteen years I worked at the Australian Research Institute for Environment & Sustainability at Macquarie University, including five as its Director. While there, I founded and remain a consultant on the Habitat Stepping Stones program, which showcases native plants for gardens to help local wildlife.

More recently, developed the Calcium Counts website, to help people get enough calcium to have strong bones as they age.

I am fascinated by the remarkable women of colonial Australia and am delighted to be bringing them out from the shadows. I was recently commissioned by Allen & Unwin to write a new book about Sarah Wentworth, who lived at Vaucluse House in Sydney and was the wife Australia's most influential man at the time.

So here I am again, walking through the streets of early Sydney, peering into the colonists windows to see what they are all up to. I always surprises me!
